In general, the probing of the environment is performed in two modes: Remote Sensing or In-Situ.
In the firs one, the seeked information (e.g. atmospheric compositon, temperature, aerosol properties, etc.) are derived from the analisys of the transmitted, reflected or absorbed radioation emmering from natural or artificial sources.
